Why I Bought An Air Pistol
Why I Bought An Air Pistol
I am a black person. There is another person in my town with the same name who is white and is only a few years older than me. (Hi Karen!😁) I would go to the pharmacy and they sometimes get our medications mixed up. So no political statement here. Just tryin' to keep people out of her hair!
, along with some recent events changed my mind.
I had an office downtown that over a night club. I worked late nights and sometimes up until the closing of the club.
One night, there was an altercation at the club after hours. (Music was off, and the streets were clear).
I tried to tip toe across the kitchen, but made a noise. Next thing I know, there was someone working the back door to get in. I called law enforcement. They checked the back door and saw nothing.
I reported this to the office manager. Her response was troubling. She said that that had happened before, and that it was just one of those things about being downtown.
Please Note the toy bb guns below use CO2 canisters as well from Walmart. Your kid can get one of these. These are on the shelf in my home town on an open shelf like the other toy guns. It is not behind a shelf. Though regulated, the Alcohol Tobacco, & Firearms Division do not require a license to purchase air pistols or other gas- powered guns.
They are not recommended for home defense in that they are not strong enough or accurate enough to fire in such a situation. Furthermore, the likelihood of it jamming is high. But, because of PTSD after my rapes, my mental illness record prevents me from carrying a gun. (Yes, I feel punished for being raped.)
This is something I hope congress will consider before sending unsuspecting coeds out into the world after being marginalized after rape. They are only setting them up repeatedly of being assaulted.
It is clear, the word abridged means "shortened." So when the 2nd Amendment says that right of the people shall not be cut back or shortened, it means just that. You can't take the right away.
But here is congress trying to do so...again.
But I digress...
What was Office Evolution's Deal?
I asked the franchise owner if he could put a camera up in the corner on the back of the stairwell. I pointed out it could keep them from being sued later, because the fire escape is hidden from the street. Anyone could break in and take things.
He said he would ask the building owners if it was okay. I had asked for this camera a few years back when I had tried a business and rented space there. At that time, he was not at all open to the idea.
He got permission this time; however the camera during the time I was there never manifested, even after I had reported the incident.
I hit the internet and looked for a way that was more effective than pepper spray. After all, in this time of COVID-19, pepper spray is going to be mildly effective against an attacker with a face mask, or goggles.
I chose to get a CO2 canister BB gun. Yes I know it is a kid's toy. You can get them at Walmart on the shelf. But I figured it was better than nothing.
So, I put the weapon in my desk drawer. One night about a month later, there was a commotion outside of the door. This time, I could clearly make out two male voices talking and laughing. I was alarmed in that it was 11 pm at night and no one else was there. I then saw a flashlight reflecting through the glass.
Then, the door begin to shake, like someone was pulling on it. I freaked out. I went and got my BB gun, and my cell phone and called the police.
Turned out, it was the maintenance crew for the restaurant next door. Because everything closed, they do maintenance at night to clean out the grease traps by running water through them. Access to it though, is through the roof. They only way they can get to it, was by a ladder on the office's fire escape. The officer who was there was already on scene; their activity already looked suspicious, so he was already looking to see what they had been doing.
So he had looked at the door, and saw that it looked like a piece of paper was lodged into the door. So he pulled on it to check if it was secure. It scared me. TOTAL MISUNDERSTANDING.
But here's the thing. Had he put the camera up as asked and promised; I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE BB GUN.
The other thing, the officer acknowledged that it
looked like something was in the door. So isn't it possible that it was from the guys the night they roughed up the person I heard downstairs? So, even though this was just a misunderstanding, this issue is far from resolved.
I got kicked out of my office for the incident. I am livid. But I am not worried. There is a way to resolve the situation.
It is called the truth.
Yes, some idiot hacker (White Nationalist?) erased my Umarex E Mails. But Thank God the receipts and account are on file. Why? to justify shooting me. Buyer beware.
